600 Series UHF Inductuner

The Mallory 600 SERIES INDUCTUNER is a high Q variable inductor with 0.028 microhenries typical inductance change for 275° of the tuning shaft. The minimum inductance is 0.003 micro henries. Frequency ratios of 4 to 1 are easy to obtain with practical values of high frequency trimming inductance. The 600 SERIES Inductuner may be used up to frequencies of 900 MHz. Most of the characteristics necessary for application of this Inductuner are shown in the electrical data.

The unit is available in one, two, three, or four ganged sections. The Inductuner frame is constructed of 1/16 inch, electro-tin plated, cold rolled steel. The tuning shaft is stainless steel, 1/4 inch in diameter and extends 2 1/2 inches from mounting flange. Shorter shaft lengths are available in 1/4 inch increments. The shaft is supported by means of a brass sleeve bearing and can be provided with stops to allow 275°, 294° or 320° of rotation. Shielding and dust protection is provided by a removable aluminum cover secured by means of locknuts. The Inductuner can be base or flange mounted.

The table below is typical for various UHF tuner element types. Values for "Q" are typically around 100, ranging from 80 to 150. Generally the upper frequency limit is raised when the ends of thecoil form are shorted together, and further when connected to the case by a shorting resistor. Tapered and narrower coil forms extend the upper inductance limit. Since actual values will depend on the total circuit, these figures are not absolute and should only be used as a guide.

MEETS MIL REQUIREMENTS
All materials, finishes, parts and processes will meet MIL-P-11268. The Inductuner will meet the following requirements as tested per MIL-STD-202:

Life: 50,000 cycles minimum
Shock: 50g's for 11 milliseconds
Vibration: 0.06" max. excursion from 5 to 55 cps.
Temperature: -55°C to +105°C
Humidity: Withstand 95% max. R. H.
