500
Series INDUCTUNER
FOR USE IN VERY HIGH FREQUENCY APPLICATIONS, MILITARY AND COMMERCIAL
The Mallory
500 Series INDUCTUNER is a high Q variable inductor with 0.699 microhenries
inductance change for six turns of the tuning shaft. The minimum
inductance is 0.028 microhenries. Frequency ratios of 4 to 1 are
easy to obtain with practical values of high frequency trimming
inductance. The 500 Series Inductuner may be used up to frequencies
of 300 mcs. Most of the characteristics necessary for application
of this Inductuner are shown in the electrical data: DL
versus rotation, distributed capacity versus rotation, Q factor
versus rotation, and a family of frequency versus rotation curves.
The unit
is available in one through seven ganged sections. The Inductuner
frame is constructed of .040 inch, silver plated (MALLOSIL®)
brass. The tuning shaft is stainless steel, 1/4 inch in diameter
and extends 1 ½ inches from frame of tuner. Shorter shaft
lengths are available in 1/8 inch increments. The shaft is supported
by two miniature precision ball bearings or self lubricated porous
bronze bearings. Stops are provided to allow approximately 6 turns
of rotation. Stops to provide less than 6 turns can be supplied.
Special designs have been utilized to provide maximum shielding
between sections and minimum radiation from the sections to the
surrounding area.
